Since its first intake of students in 1961 at Clayton, Australia, Monash has grown to become a truly global university. Monash's longstanding reputation for the quality of its academic programs, research outcomes and community service was confirmed in the quality reviews conducted by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Higher Education between 1994 and 1995. These reviews saw Monash emerge as one of only three Australian universities to be ranked in the top group for each of the three core university functions of teaching, research outcomes and community service.

A brief history of Monash University
Named after prominent Australian, Sir John Monash, Monash University was established by an Act of Parliament in 1958 making it the first university to be established in the state of Victoria for 106 years. Since its first intake of students in 1961, Monash has grown from a single campus at Clayton to six campuses in Australia, one in Malaysia and one in South Africa.
