Holmesglen Institute is a large government institution located across three campuses in the southeastern suburbs of Melbourne. It is one of Australia's leading polytechnics and is committed to the provision of high quality educations.

In 2002 there were over 38,000 students enrolled at Holmesglen in over 450 different courses. Facilities

Students studying English language programs at the Institute have access to a modern and well-equipped Flexible Learning Centre. A wide range of software, audio-visual and print material is available for practice and study in the Flexible Learning Centre. A specialist teacher is available in the Centre to devise and support individualised language learning programs for students.

Holmesglen's state-of-the-art Information Commons was opened in February 2000 and provides students with a library, conference rooms and classroom, and a central pit containing 200 computers. The library contains a wide range of books, journals, videos, and audio-cassettes and the computer enables students to increase their knowledge of the latest technology through access to the internet.

Students Support

As many students find life in Australia quite different to life in their home country, orientation activities are provided to help students become familiar with Australia culture and customs and to introduce students to the Institute and its services.

The Institute provides a complete language support service to international students with extra tutorial assistance throughout the year.

A counselor is employed to assist international students with personal and study problems and to provide educational and vocational counseling.

The Institute has a well-equipped fitness centre and provides comprehensive leisure class programs including aerobics, boxercise and tai chi. Table tennis , pool tables and video games are available.
